Lately...in pics

Thought I'd share some highlights of what's been going on around my neck of the woods.  Like this ridiculously long lizard....ewwwhhhh!!!!  And the fact that my bloodroot plant from Ras Ils flowered....sweet :) My daughter and friends about to run the 3K of Run Barbados 2013 Her brother Hakim actually won the 3K and the Midnight Run...that's him,  runner 1702 I'm still finding time to savour nature at its tropical best.......sunsets at the beach are the best! Whooo...we have pups...yes, our Pits had pups and they are adorable xxxxx Always have time for good friends, food and wine :)... BTW Bathseba Sunday evenings, let's bring it back! I am also enjoying a bit of meat lately. I am not a big meatie but have been in the mood for spicy food so out comes the roti. Yes I do make my own "skins" and they were delish! Bon apetite! 

Things we take for granted......looking up

It is such a joy to sit back and watch my children discover some of the same simple pleasures in life that I did as a child here in Barbados back in the 70s. One such past-time is cloud watching. Now this may sound trivial to some of you, but you never appreciate clouds until you have lived through a period of not seeing or noticing the sky for years! My niece and I talked about this one night when she was visiting from Toronto. We were sitting out one night when she remarked that the moon looked c lose enough to touch , the sky seemed like it was right there. In any major city, when you look up, you are guaranteed an over load of skyscrapers, ads and competing artificial lights. So, what was any diligent nature lover to do but start taking photos of the sky. I had a renewed appreciation of the sky view. If your location does not afford you a spectacular sky view, then by all means please enjoy ours.      I love these whimsical clouds. So...I almost melted today!

Seriously, I think I reached melting point today! The last few days have been almost unbearably humid. I sit in my front room, windows and doors open, fan going, celebrating every breeze that passes by. Yes,..... I have become so desperate, that every time the wind blows I make a public announcement akin to "Did you feel that?" or "Oh man! that breeze feels good". It's almost a celebration. Well, I don't know what's getting you through this heat wave wherever you are but here in sweet Barbados, I am attempting to keep chill by breaking out the trusted Banks beer. Nothing beats an ice cold Banks!  You know it's cold when it condenses! I can easily have a few throughout the day because they are very mild. At least to my taste! Compared to most beers, their 4.7% alcohol content seems quite reasonable. I also thoroughly enjoyed these Bob Marley Mellow Mood Drinks.
