A Bajan Great

For a small island Barbados has a mighty big history and presence on the world stage. Long gone are the glory days of being England's crown jewel yet Bajans continue to rep hard and make stellar contributions to the world. Today I wanted to share a little lesser known accomplishments we can all be proud of as Bajans.
Did you know...
that Mount Gay rum was the first rum produced in the world?

that the grapefruit is indigenous to Barbados?

that Sir Garfield Sobers is still the world's greatest cricketer? Yes.....still.

that Harrison's College is older than the USA?

My alma mater
that Barbados aloes is the most potent of all varieties?

that Barbados sea island cotton is among the best in the world?

that Codrington College is the oldest seminary in the West?

Don't think that's all. I just wanted to whet your appetites with wonder for this great lil rock of ours. Maybe you can work on your own list and we can compare notes. There's lots more to come so look out!
